Apartment Review for Merrick Place - Lexington, KY

When my wife and I first moved into Merrick Place, we were told our apartment would be renovated before we moved in. Low and behold when we moved into our apartment it had old dirty carpets, a clogged air conditioner filter, dust balls so large they were falling out of our air conditioner vents and the tray under the washing machine (which happens to be in a carpeted closet) had mold and hair underneath it. When we called to have the tray cleaned, the head maintenence man merely wiped out the front of the tray and snuck out without a word. I had to lift the machine in order to have my wife mop up the mess underneath it. The walls are paper thin, and if your neighbor has a dog (like ours does) it will keep you awake. We have a high powered security like shining directly into our living room at night, and frequent attempts to have it slightly redirected were treated like it was an impossible task until I nagged them so much the maintenence man came out and moved it slightly (still shines in the living room). We have a persistant ant infestation. The garbage services are at 6:30-7:00 am, and are sure to wake you from a good sleep. We repeated asked the staff to only come and do non-emergency maintenece calls only when I was home and took off work, yet they repeatedly entered our home despite telling us they would not. They have little patience for any complaints and are sometimes downright rude. I would not recommend this property to anyone, and I cannot wait to leave. These apartments are much too expensive to deal with a rude staff who do not seem like they care to help you. Your money is better spent somewhere newer and nicer. DO NOT let the nice trees and neighborhood fool you, that is the only part of the property that is well maintained.
