Apartment Review
Great Community Terrible City

The property was absolutely beautiful! You had everything your heart desired. The fitness center was always available, the swimming pool was decent size but very well thought out, a clean laundry room, and it was very close to the grocery store and shopping. They offered muffins and drinks to just about anyone who came in. Even when you just stopped by to ask a question. The employees were very friendly and helpful. Obviously their company takes very good care of them because they passed that feeling on to the tenants. My husband and I stayed their for two years and unfortunately had to move.

A word to the wise. This community was the best one I had ever lived in. I have lived in three others in Lexington and two in Louisville. The only bad thing about Lexington is the city itself. The college graduation rate is very low. There are a lot of rich people and college students. This makes it a very unusual mix. Everyone runs around acting like they're too good to stop at stop lights, better than everyone else, and they put on airs. My husband saw a "suicide by cop" and I personally saw a lady fight with another lady at Dillard's over a "doorbuster" item. It wasn't pretty, it was all nails and fists. One of the lady's face had blood streaming over it. During Christmas almost everyone is mean and cranky because of all the stress there. In fact, I do remember a lady also stealing a furby out of a little girl's hands while she was waiting in line to get one at a Wal-mart. The manager promptly donated all of Furby's to a local Toys for Tots program and the father of the girl charged filed charges. I was 17-23 years old at the time I was living there so I'm not an old person trying to tell you that the teenage boys were cocky or that I'm a country girl. I was raised in Louisville so I've seen a lot of things. It reminds me more of the coldness of the north than the southern style friendliness associated with Kentucky. Oak Grove was a diamond in the rough. I enjoyed every minute.
