Apartment Review
Don't live here, you can't say you weren
Review Date: 7/20/2009 Reviewer: Anonymous
I lived at saddlebrook for two years and it was the worst two years I've ever had in any apartment. The second month (July 2007) I lived there our air conditioner broke and they didn't fix it for two weeks. It was 95 degrees inside the apartment and pretty much unlivable. The management didn't think this was a problem and didn't want to reimburse me for anything. After our air conditioner was "fixed" it still could only ever cool the apartment by about 10 degrees, if it was 90 out it wasn't going to be comfortable in the apartment. A month later and the water drainage pipe for the air conditioner which is positioned brilliantly in the middle of the ceiling started leaking disgusting water all on the carpet. They took a week to fix it. Most of these apartments are larger then other comparable units, but BE WARNED they have practically no insulation what so ever. Your air conditioner (if it works) or heater WILL be on all the time if you like to live in conditions that don't make you either sweat or shiver like a normal human being. Every electric bill that I received for the apartment was over $200. In the winter I had three months of bills $400-$600 dollars. When I moved out (June 30 2009). I turned in my keys and asked to do a walk through. I went to the unit with the property manager's assistant and showed him everything, he said it all looked pretty good especially the bedrooms. The refrigerator was dirty and I acknowledged that and said I would pay the fee for that. I thought everything was fine until on July 10th 2009, I received a bill from Michael Gale the current property manager for Saddlebrook. The letter I had received from Michael Gale contained no explanation or checklist. It was simply a list of charges that I had to pay. I called Michael Gale today at 859-272-7686 (July 13 2009) to find out what all this was about, he said the walk through I went on actually didn't matter at all, he gets the final word. He said I owed them $401, I was charged a general $85 "apartment cleaning fee" which is what I assume they tack on to everyone though I can't be sure. The charged me to clean the stove, dishwasher, refrigerator(reasonable charge), oven. The charged me for deep cleaning for 4 rooms, right there we had a problem as we only have 3 rooms, he eventually dropped one of the rooms from our bill bringing the amount charged to $376. He said the burners were removed from the oven and the burner plates were missing. This is simply a false statement, when I did the walkthrough on June 30th they were present and clean. The oven and dishwasher were clean and in the same condition they were when we moved in over two years ago. |
