Apartment Review for Springhouse - Lexington, KY

We were moving from out of state, and this is the only place that would accept our application, which is why we ended up here. It looks ok on the surface, but the night we moved in, our garbage disposal stopped working, our bathtub, which was recently glazed, had cracks in the finish, and our air conditioner overflowed with nasty water. None of these things has yet to be repaired, and we've been complaining since we moved in. The maintenance staff doesn't know how to clean the HVAC unit; as a result, it is constantly overflowing with water. We have black mold growing up the walls and in the carpet of our closet. Their solution? Spray it with carpet detergent. We have to have a fan running 24/7 in the closet, we have hooked up tubing (got the idea from another resident) so that most of the water runs down it and into a 10 gallon bucket, which, til it turned cold, we were emptying every day. They double-charge for water, they also charge us for 150 gallons a day and we're not home for about 10 hours a day. The parking sucks, everyone parks in front of our building so that we have to park past the back buildings, near the apartment complex next to us. On days where one of us is home, we keep the bar lock slid shut. Well, people regularly try to enter our apartment, in spite of a supposed rule that they'll give "24 hours notice in writing". We have to buy our own filters for the HVAC because the maintenance doesn't come around often enough to replace the crap fiberglass ones they give us (which does contribute to the overflowing water, because it lets too much dust through). It's a step up from the ghetto apartment I had in Chicago, but it's among the least pleasant places I've ever lived.
